This year marks a special milestone for Kirsty Hickson, the creative force behind The Creation Station East Yorkshire, Driffield. Not only is she celebrating 12 years of inspiring imaginations, but she has also been named Franchisee of the Year 2025—a fantastic recognition of her dedication, creativity, and impact on her community.
Before launching her award-winning creative business, Kirsty spent 12 years in teaching—10 of those leading art across the school. Craving more flexibility and a way to channel her creativity, she discovered The Creation Station. “I love working with children and love being creative,” she shares. “Running my own business ticked all the boxes—it just felt right.”
Over the past 12 years, Kirsty has grown her franchise into a vibrant creativity hub. Her sessions range from baby and toddler classes to adult workshops like Paint & Sip and Creative Crafters. She also brings joy and connection into care homes with her Care & Creativity workshops, proving that creativity really is for everyone, no matter their age.
Kirsty’s transformation from a classroom teacher to a celebrated creative entrepreneur is truly inspiring. Her recent award as Franchisee of the Year 2025 is a testament to her passion, commitment, and the joy she brings to her community through art. “If I knew what I know now,” she says, “I would have launched my own Creation Station much sooner.”
Congratulations to Kirsty on this amazing achievement—and here’s to even more sparkle, creativity, and inspiration in East Yorkshire!
