Sarah Cressall’s kitchen start-up business was designed to give her own three young boys, creative opportunities to spark their own journey of exploration, discovery and learning. Sarah also thought that other people would enjoy running their own flexible and rewarding business. That was 2002 and now The Creation Station has inspired over one million children and adults through an amazing team of one hundred plus franchise owners. The business has been recognised by a whole roomful of awards and has featured on BBC, CBeebies, ITV, SKY and MTV.
There is no slowing down Sarah’s drive to promote creativity. Sarah’s book “Creative Sparks – ideas to inspire you and yours ” shot to number one on Amazon within the first 24-hours. Since then, Sarah has been out and about speaking at events, conducting radio interviews and attending award ceremonies. With one focus in mind, Sarah continues to work to help promote creativity in all aspects of our lives including education, entertainment, recreation, well-being and care.
Naturally, Craft Business magazine is a fitting publication for a one-to-one question & answers session with Sarah and here’s what they talked about…
The Creation Station now provides opportunities to get creative in lots of ways, from creative baby and preschool classes, arty parties, creative after-school clubs and school workshops, adults craft events and workshops for the elderly, plus event entertainment for corporate days, shopping centres and festivals. Activities include super slippery slime fun, to baby’s first Christmas canvases, to painted wine glasses to shopping centre murals.
The classes, events, parties & workshops are available for all ages, quite literally 0-99 years and beyond if you’d like!
Sarah’s book, “Creative Sparks”, details the journey of The Creation Station, but also Sarah’s journey and how a creative approach has helped her as a child, mum and business owner.
The book is jam-packed with ideas and inspiration for you and yours and there are fifty-two low cost and easy ideas to inspire the kids plus lots of activities to help your own creative juices flow.
Within the article, Sarah talks about what she looks for when introducing new business owners to The Creation Station, and what she believes is the magical ingredient to a successful creative business. When talking with Craft editor Mark Hayhurst Sarah said:
“Having a business with a purpose makes all the difference. We have been able to make a positive difference to so many because of the calibre of our franchise owners. They also care about making a difference and are people people! They like being around people, kids and adults, they are proactive and have a positive attitude.”
