Jubilee Crafts For At Home With Our #MakeItMonday

In the lead up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, we thought it was only fitting to create a royal crown for our #MakeitMonday activity.

A craft like this can be a great way to explain to your little ones all about the Queen’s Jubilee, and have a fun, free and engaging activity to do too!

We’re passionate about inspiring imaginations through crafts and creative activities. You can find more of our videos, ideas and free activities on our social channels:

To make your own crown follow our 8 simple steps below.

You will need:

  • Gold bordette roll
  • Tinsel pipe cleaners
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Pom poms
  • Pony beads

Step 1:

Measure the size of your child’s head and cut off enough bordette roll. Secure in place with double sided tape.

Step 2:

Stick one end of a pipe cleaner in the top of your crown. Stick the other end right next to it in the space between the roll. Make a heart shape by bending the pipe cleaner in the middle.

Step 3:

Leave a bit of space after the heart and stick another pipe cleaner in. Wrap a pom pom about halfway and twist to secure it. Tuck away the remaining pipe cleaner.

Step 4:

Repeat the same on the other side of the crown.

Step 5:

Wrap a pipe cleaner around a smaller pom pom. Twist and cut off the remaining pipe
cleaner. Thread 4 pony beads and cut off the end of a pipe cleaner to make it shorter
than the previous ‘jewels.

Step 6:

Repeat the same on the other side.

Step 7:

Wrap a pipe cleaner around the biggest pom pom and twist to secure it. Leave a little
bit of a pipe cleaner and cut off the rest. Attach the pom pom to the top of the heart
shape.

Step 8:

Cut off a strip of a double sided tape to the front of your crown and cover it with pony beads.
