Welcome to Day 10 of our Children’s Creative Summer Challenge!
Today’s activity is all about heading outdoors, gathering treasures from nature, and turning them into beautiful, unique creations. This is a wonderfully low-prep, hands-on activity that’s perfect for sparking creativity while exploring the great outdoors.
You can do this in your garden, at a park, during a woodland walk, or even at the beach.
Not only is this a fun and mindful activity, but it also supports fine and gross motor skills, language, balance, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, concentration, and creativity. Plus, it’s completely open-ended—there’s no right or wrong way to create your masterpiece!

What You’ll Need:
A selection of natural materials (leaves, petals, flowers, shells, pebbles, twigs—anything that catches your eye!)
Optional: A bucket, bag, or basket to collect your materials
Optional: Paper, card, or a tray to create your art on—or simply use the ground as your canvas

How to Create Your Nature Art
Here’s one way to enjoy this creative activity—feel free to adapt and experiment:
Collect your materials: Go for a nature walk and gather interesting items. Look for different textures, shapes, and colours.
Choose your canvas: Decide if you’ll create directly on the ground, on paper, or on a tray.
Arrange your treasures: Try making patterns, shapes, or pictures. There’s no set design—just see where your imagination takes you!
Step back and admire: When you’re happy with your creation, take a photo to remember it before nature reclaims it.

Creative Twists to Try
The possibilities are endless! Here are some ideas to inspire you:
Nature faces: Use leaves for hair, petals for eyes, and twigs for a smile.
Themed pictures: Can you make a flower, a tree, or even a bird using only natural materials?
Beach treasures: If you’re at the seaside, try creating a fish, a wave, or a sandcastle outline using shells and seaweed.
Sort and pattern: Organise your finds by colour, size, or type, then use them to make repeating patterns or rainbow designs.
Mini landscapes: Use moss, stones, and twigs to create a tiny forest or garden scene.

Share to Win!
Grab your photos, share them on our Day 10 social post on Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, and pop them into the comments—we’ll choose entries for a £100 craft hamper giveaway.
Whether you’ve made a nature rainbow, a leafy portrait, or something completely unexpected—your version is the one we want to see.
Enjoy collecting, arranging, sorting (or not!)—but most of all, let your imagination take the lead.
