Creative Cardboard Workshops Launch Across UK To Promote Sustainability

Promoting the use of sustainable packaging through an exciting partnership.

To help children explore and experience how versatile cardboard is, we have developed a range of hands-on creative cardboard workshops in partnership with Beyond the Box.

This is an initiative spearheaded by the CPI (Confederation of Paper Industries), who have launched a campaign to help promote the sustainable qualities of cardboard packaging.

This exciting partnership invites families to take part in a competition, to create a story with characters made from cardboard, and then share their creation on social media. The winning design will be transformed into a stop-motion animation clip.

The competition runs from 1st to 31st May 2023 and is open to entries from 1-year to 11-year-olds. Families can either take part in the competition by creating their design at home or joining their local classes across the UK between the 22nd and 31st of May,

The winner will be announced on 6th June 2023. Terms and conditions apply.

Sarah Cressall, CEO of Creation Station, says: “In a time when we’re all increasingly thinking about how we can play our part in being more environmentally conscious, Beyond the Box is inviting people to think differently about cardboard.”

“The reason why cardboard is such a hit with children is that it has the same creative appeal as Lego – it can be repurposed and rebuilt into something else entirely. The only restriction is often our own imagination.”

Andy Barnetson, Director of Packaging Affairs at CPI, says: “Cardboard is recyclable, renewable and reusable and therefore should be the UK’s number one packaging choice, but not enough people are aware of its sustainable credentials.”

“Partnering with an organisation that’s delivered award-winning, fun and educational arts and crafts classes such as Creation Station is a great way to spread awareness and get British families to think more about the types of packaging materials that are used every day.”

Families can join in the competition online by posting pictures on social media using the hashtag #choosecardboard and tagging both Beyond the Box and The Creation Station.

Look out for the featured post pinned at the top of our Facebook page or Instagram profile from the 1st of May, for further details on how to enter the competition.

If entering the competition on Instagram, make sure you tag both @beyondtheboxuk and @thecreationstationworld, and include the hashtag #choosecardboard in your post.
