For #MakeitMonday we’re taking a simple easy craft and making the most magical of pictures!
All you need is;
1 x A4 Card
1 x Pencil or Pen
1 x Pot of PVA Glue
1 x Bag of Salt
4 x Mixed paints (optional)
Follow the step by step guide in the video or these below;
Step 1 – Draw your shapes or pictures on to your A4 card
Step 2 – Carefully cover your picture in glue
Step 3 – Pop your picture in a tray and pop the salt over it
Step 4 – Shake off the excess salt from your picture
Step 5 – Put droplets of paint over the salt and watch it soak and spread through your picture!
This is a great activity to show children how different materials stick together and what binds them – in this activity the glue binds to the card and the salt, but when the glue is removed the salt doesn’t stick to the card.
It’s also great for teaching them about colour mixtures when the paint spreads through the salt the colours mix together and create a new third colour – can your little one work out which colours they can make?
