There comes a moment in your life when you are ready for a change, it maybe because you think that you feel like you’re wasting the best years of your life, or your career doesn’t fit around your growing family’s needs, or simply you just don’t feel successful. Whatever the reason it often ends in the same conclusion, and that is you can’t see any clear alternatives, so guess what? You just tolerate it.
Well for these seven women, they decided that their own individual needs meant that the time for change was going to happen!
Now, at that point not all of them knew what they wanted to do, or where to start and feared the challenges ahead, but what drove them forward collectively was the desire to control their destiny and do something that inspired others and themselves.
Fast forward a few months and together they have just completed their first weeks training and are now fully-fledged business owners within the award-winning Creation Station franchise!
What they have achieved from that initial thought of knowing it was time for change to now, is nothing short of awesome! Throughout their journey the support of their families and the advice and guidance from The Creation Station has been invaluable.
Read their stories below as to why taking the creative plunge and becoming a business owner of a Creation Station franchise was right for them, it might resonate with you…
Alix – Beckenham, Hayes and Orpington
I’ve been a teacher for 30 years, as the curriculum has become more constrictive and less time has been available to do the more creative aspects of it, I decided that what I really wanted was to leave the school environment and get back to doing what I really love….working with children and inspiring them, but I didn’t really know where or how this was going to happen.
My husband Ian’s support has been amazing, his comments were “Go for it, if it’s going to make you happy“
Dawn – Leeds
I started to lose my enthusiasm for maths teaching around 10 years ago. Then had 2 children which distracted me from my career issues. Started looking at own business/franchising about 4 years ago. Devastatingly my Mum died 2 years ago and as I was brought up by her alone, this had a profound effect on me – that was the catalyst for me to give up teaching.
I love creativity and art and The Creation Station franchise made sense and ticked all boxes; Creativity. Running classes, Supportive and Established.
Nicola – Lincoln West
I have been a Care Assistant in Nursing and Residential Care Homes for 8 years, progressing to a Healthcare Assistant in the NHS Trust. The thought of leaving my son when I go back to work in a job where I do 13 hour shifts scared me. It took nearly two years to find something that interested me, as only having done work in the health and social care industry.
My partner was very supportive, he sat and looked at all the information with me and said “if you really want to do this then go for it, I’ll be here to support you”. The motivation for me is I want to give my children a better life, and for them to see anything is possible when you try.
Sabrina – Burbage
For the past 10 years I have been an Art Teacher. In that time I have taught various art classes, summer camps and art parties to both children and adults. After the first 2 years I found the education system extinguished my creative spark, so I started looking at franchises and The Creation Station jumped out at me and from there I was so excited.
If I had to advise someone who was in the same position as me? I would tell them that you know when it’s time for a change in your job, don’t ignore your gut. I know it’s hard to make such a big change in your life, however sometimes you have to give yourself a break, try your best, and never look back.
Sara – Kensington
It took me 10 years to actually stop everything and decided that I will follow my passion. I’m a workaholic and the multinational I worked at was like my home, I didn’t want to just go to a new job I wasn’t crazy about and give my everything, but not feel happy or satisfied.
I always loved helping family and friends decorate their events and celebrations because they knew how passionate I was about creativity, I love expressing feelings or thoughts in a way that will simply make you happy, and that is why The Creation Station was a match, similar values: a business to inspire people through art.
Hayley – Kidlington & Witney
I had my first boy not long after graduating and I was able to spend the first two years of his life at home with him, then along came my second. I had a year of maternity and never felt the same once I returned to work. After my third I was dreading returning to work I had children so that I could spend time with them, help them grow and develop, and I needed that in a job.
I found The Creation Station online, went to a discovery morning and there and then thought this would change my life and do something I love whilst spending loads more time with my 3 boys.
Nicola – Nottingham North
After feeling frustrated for several years of teaching in an environment where standards and expectations have squeezed out creativity, I thought I needed a change. I wanted a new direction where I retain the positive aspects of working with people but to be more creative and freer to pursue my own direction.
I decided that a franchise rather than starting my own business was the best opportunity. There was an existing brand with processes, website, structure and most importantly support. Ultimately, I want to be responsible for my own way forward that makes me feel valued, happy and satisfied and that I’ve made a difference.
The biggest part of their journey was to make the decision to start looking and each of them have said that they wish they had done it sooner.
