What do toddlers, kids, families, students, adults and senior citizens have in common?

..they all love getting creative with The Creation Station.

We have seen some wonderful creations and heard some great stories about the power of creativity this month.

Being creative unlocks so many aspects of our lives: from developing essential early learning skills to building self-esteem and problem-solving skills, to having fun and doing things you enjoy or have never done before

During February we were delighted to provide creative fun for the great ‘Whizz kids’ charity in the North East. Brad Thompson, Abbie Melia and Sharon Fisher ran three events over different weekends and to use Sharon’s words “The organisers and kids LOVED it and I LOVED it too! I love what we do at Creation Station!”’

Activities included; spray painting graffiti, creating bubble wrap throw-about pom-poms and fabric painting bags. The kids got really stuck in and had a truly colourful and creative experience.

We got in the festival mood quite early in Devon, with crowns and dancing gear created and used to party at a local rave.  Victoria Rundle was inundated with creative kids and adults finding their creative groove.

We visited eighteen universities across the UK and helped students get creative by marbling phone cases. Over 5,000 phone cases were marbled and each one was different –  the effects were truly awesome.

We celebrated Chinese New Year and welcomed in the year of the Dog. We worked out what animal we were and created our own animal puppets. Yat On and Yat Chen, run the Creation Station classes in Cantonese too, so it was a double celebration for us.

The sunshine arrived in brightly coloured clay creations in some of our Arty Parties. This gorgeous creation is from a very special day in Taunton with Janna Tratt

Our after-school Create Clubs involved helping kids to get inspired by other cultures, from different times and from around the world. We explored the lives of cave people and the ways they communicated. Joscelin Hennigan and her creative kids even made their own indoor fire.

The low winter sun is no problem in Bristol as creative kids designed their own car shades and explored mark making and then popped the shades on the actual windows. Lovely job Sue Hammond! Eight years into Creation Station the creativity just oozes!

We’ve been exploring and mixing our own colours with babies and toddlers. Love these images from Vicky Breakspear.

We’ve been creating Tiny Treasures keepsakes in workshops across the UK for Mother’s Day and for Easter gifts. Your baby doesn’t stay this small for long, so it’s wonderful to help people create some treasured memories.

And yes, we’ve been going down the pub… our adult creative crafts are in full swing with lots of chatter. lovely crafts and new friends made too.  (Sssh – don’t tell anyone…  It just doesn’t feel like work!)

In our intergenerational workshops, we brought our young creative kids and lovely senior citizens together. These workshops are great fun and really do help you recognise the power of shared creative activities.

We got together for our inspiring imagination conferences at the beginning of February to celebrate sixteen years of inspiring imaginations and ‘unleashing the wonder within’. It was great fun, with lots of new developments and our Creation Station franchise owners were recognised for the wonderful work they do to inspire their local communities’ imaginations.
