Enjoying Success with the Creation Station

-Louise's thoughts on running her own Creation Station Franchise in South Nottinghamshire-

Why I chose franchising?   I decided that I would like to work for myself and have more flexibility to fit work in around my family. I felt that franchising would give me the support and advice I would need to run my own business. I looked at a few franchisees that worked with children but chose The Creation Station because of the way it actively supports parents' and children's learning.

What I did before. I previously worked as a primary school teacher and as an adult tutor so I had a lot of experience working with children and their carers. I loved both jobs but never achieved that work/life balance I dreamt of.

Training and Support.  I had an initial training period of about 2 weeks and I have continued to receive on going support. Sarah provides plenty of tips along the way and has systems in place for ensuring new ideas keep coming.

The ‘best bits'.  I made a profit on my investment  in the first year.  However the real ‘profit' for me is running the classes and meeting the children and their carers each week. I see them grow in confidence and gain a real sense of satisfaction. I love to hear   what the children have been up to. For example, a Grandma whose grandson enjoyed cutting up straws in a session so much took a pair of scissors and a box of straws to a family meal in a restaurant. This kept the boy busy whilst everyone else ate their meal! A little boy who was in church on Easter Sunday and began singing ‘We are creative kids' in a very loud voice when the vicar mentioned the Creation Story!

My advice to someone thinking of buying a Creation Station franchise. I would say that if you are willing to work hard and give something of yourself to the job then go for it! It will give you a great deal of flexibility and job satisfaction.
